Here is a oldie but a goodie from a South African magazine named Sports Illustrated.
This magazine featured an article that makes a comparison of kit worn between Shankar Lakshman, who was goalkeeper in the 1950′s and Chris Hibbert the current South African.
Shankar Lakshman was nicknamed the rock of Gibraltar…

I personally don’t think there’s such a ridiculous difference in protection. It would take something special to take something off you with an ABS helmet on. And surely he’s confident enough using it. I can’t imagine he hasn’t been hit in the helmet before, he obviously believes in their protective qualities.

anyone else surprised that hibbert is only using an ABS? surely you’d want a CK if you were playing internationals?
